A meeting place since 1885
The venue traces its roots to the late nineteenth century, when the Norwegian labour movement established Folkets Hus, the People’s House, as a common meeting place in 1885. Construction began around 1900 and the original building opened in 1907.
After several expansions and redevelopments, the complex was extensively modernised. The present congress facilities were completed in 1989 and have continued to evolve to welcome guests from Norway and around the world.
